Your Children, Are Taught by the Lord

One of the greatest comforts I have as a mother is that the God of the universe, who made the heavens and the earth, is with my children leading and teaching them.

One of my life verses for my children is Isaiah 54:13,14b, 17a:  “All your sons and daughters will be TAUGHT BY THE LORD and great will be your children’s peace.  In righteousness you will be established, you have nothing to fear,no weapon formed against you will  prevail.”

Teaching our children can be challenging. It is so encouraging that we have the Lord , through the power of the Holy Spirit, co-laboring with us.

His instructions and leading far exceeds ours.

I encourage you today to continually ask the Lord for his input into your children’s lives. This may come through you or directly to them.

One of the most important things we can do for our kids as parents is connecting them to hearing from God themselves. They can seek God at an early age and ask Him what He has to say to them daily.

As soon as they can read they can be instructed by God through His word. His word is “living and active” and He speaks to us through it. (Hebrews 4:12)

He also speaks directly to our spirits through the Holy Spirit.

When the prophet Samuel was born, his mother Hannah dedicated him to the Lord, as she had vowed she would if she had a child. At a young age, he was given to the Lord’s temple to serve (probably 3 years old).

In the night the Lord called to Samuel by name, even though ” the word of the Lord was rare in those days and there had not been many visions” (1 Samuel 3;1). When Samuel realized it was the Lord calling and not Eli the priest, he said, ” Speak Lord, your servant is listening. ” When the Lord spoke, He said to Samuel” I am about to do something in Israel that will make the ears of everyone who hears tingle.” He told the young boy what He was about to do in the nation.

It goes on to say, “THE LORD WAS WITH Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of the words fall to the ground…The Lord continued to appear to Samuel and he continued to revealed Himself to Samuel through His word . And all of Samuel’s words came to all Israel” (1 Samuel 10,11,19,2, 4:1) The Lord spoke to Samuel his whole life and then Samuel spoke for the Lord to the whole nation as a great prophet. He anointed the first two kings of Israel later including King David, the forefather of Jesus Christ.(Matthew 1)

As we dedicate our children to the Lord, they too will hear from Him through the Holy Spirit and the Word.

“He wakens me morning by morning, He awakens my ear to listen like one being taught.  The Sovereign Lord has opened my ears, I have not drawn back…Because the Sovereign Lord helps me, I will not be disgraced(or fail).   Let him who walks in the dark, who has no light, TRUST IN THE NAME OF THE LORD AND RELY ON HIS GOD.  Isaiah 50:4,5,10

May this word encourage you today.

Lisa
