We home schooled each one of our four children, starting them at the age of around 4 and continuing until they graduated from high school for a total of 26 years. It was an adventure and an absolute blessing. All of them have done extremely well in college and are our main “proof” that homeschooling works. They all follow and serve the Lord in their lives and demonstrate solid Christian character and integrity.
To teach my children at home was a direct answer to a very clear call from God to disciple my children. He showed me when my first was born that this would be my ministry. I was in full-time campus ministry at the time , and He made it clear that my influence on this little life, as well as others we would have, would far exceed any influence on college leaders. He showed me that my children would be my spiritual legacy, and the mark on their lives would most certainly be distinct if I would train and instruct them in the ways of the Lord. I was a discipler and a teacher of the Word and now my disciples would be my children. I dedicated my life to it and was spurred on by the Lord’s direction and inspiration through the Holy Spirit daily. What a privilege when seen this way, to partner with God in teaching and shaping these young followers of Jesus. I enjoyed every minute of it and never felt I had enough time.
Our primary focus with our homeschooling was on “character” and building a strong biblical worldview in addition to teaching them not only “what” to learn, but more importantly, “how” to learn. We were more concerned about who are children were than what they were doing or were going to do. The word of God was my main curriculum.
The decision to home school was one of the best and most important decisions we made as a family.
This website was created for the purpose of sharing some of the things that we have learned and practiced and to become a resource for other parents who believe that homeschooling is the direction that God is leading them.
My first several entries are foundational to what I believe every Christian home school should understand. They are the Biblical truths I was instructed in and then instructed my children in. I will also be including referrals to other resources and individuals. I feel honored to share the creative ideas that the Lord gave me during the season I home schooled.
We are blessed to be able to share with you and hope that the information and materials you find here will be a blessing to you as well.
